The proceedings of this meeting, [Wilson & Peter 1988] , brought the notion of "biodiversity" to the attention of a much wider audience. The term "biodiversity" became more widespread following the 1992 Rio Earth Summit. Recently, the term "biodiversity" has been a much used and abused concept. [Ghilarov 1996] and [Harper & Hawksworth 1995] have further discussions on the origins and meaning of the term "biodiversity". |
