Multiregional Model

In the multiregionalmodel, modern humans evolved from ancestral Homo erectus at severaldifferent places simultaneously.

Genetic exchange between populations evolving in different localities ensured that the evolving Homo sapiens remained a single (rather variable) species.

  • To what species did the existing populations belong?
  • What predictions does this model make?
  • Are these born out by the evidence?
