Curriculum Reform: Serve since 2003 on the Curriculum Review and Timetable
committee. This committee involves in curriculum development at the Science
Faculty level as well as at the departmental level.

on Communication” in 2002.
The specific tasks of
this committee were to formulate recommendations to the
Departmental,
Leadership in Teaching, e.g. Curriculum Design:
l
Leadership in teaching scientific research
through curriculum design: Initiate the necessary changes in the existing BSc. and helped construct
the Major and Minor honor degree curriculum for the Food and Nutritional program,
offers by our department of Zoology. Design laboratory courses for the 3rd year students
in the Nutrition program, aims to provide students the basic and clinical
research experience and entrance preparation into the job markets in dietetics,
pharmaceuticals as well as in basic science research.
l
Leadership in teaching presentation skills,
problem-based learning through curriculum design: Conduct undergraduate
tutorials and projects presentation (i.e. in BIOL 2508 Food Toxicology and
BIOL 2509 Functional Foods), also for postgraduates. The objectives of the
final year presentations are to encourage team-work, independent or critical
thinking, presentation skills and problem-based learning, an the awareness
on local issues for the students

Leadership in industrial experience and innovation
through curriculum design: Made recommendation
on the necessary incorporation of the “cap-stone experience” 6-credit course
in all BSc. degrees offer by the Faculty of Science, starting in year 2007. The cap-stone experience covers industrial experience,
academic exchange, teaching community projects into the BSc. The objective
is to prepare the students with more practical skills in their subject area
before graduation.

to staff development in teaching and learning at departmental level, including
acting as a mentor to academic and research staffs:
l
As departmental representative: “The Learning Network (TLN)
Communication Group” organized by the Faculty of Science aimed for Professional
Development (since 2003). The main role of TLN is to establish quality
assurance and quality improvement processes in teaching and learning.
I have organized two retreats for our departmental
staffs, and conducted workshops on quality teaching (2002 in Macu, 2003 in
HK island, with 90% staffs attended). The purpose of the workshops was to
enhance the culture of teaching and learning at HKU, help improve in teaching
and learning, so as to positively influence student learning. I am also involved in the Mentorship program
at HKU, acting as mentor to undergraduate students; help them with their learning
difficulties and coping of personal problems.
