MERIT Going Forward
MERIT will continue to:
- Play a leading role in marine environmental research in the region;
- Maintain the highest attainable level of quality scientific output and be globally visible through our high impact research;
- Organise international conferences, workshops, seminars and promote the use of novel technology and academic excellence in marine environmental reserach;
- Commercialise selected novel technologies such as the 'Artificial Mussels', Marine Medaka microarray, etc;
- Offer objective, expert advice and consultancy to regulatory authorities;
- Train environmental managers in the region and build the core capability in marine environmental management to address imminent needs;
- Identify further research areas where Hong Kong has the potential to develop an international competitive edge and attain world class excellence; and
- Build on existing strengths and contribute to maintaining Hong Kong's economic position in a sustainable fashion.
