Mr. Kwok-yin So is the chief executive of the Conservancy Association, an environmental NGO with the longest history on tree conservation in Hong Kong. He has been working in the arboriculture and landscape management field for over 20 years. He is very familiar with the entire process and workflows on arboricultural operations, with both hands on and management experiences.
Mr. So also works proactively on the development of arboriculture and horticulture training in Hong Kong. He has developed and taught the Supervision of Tree Work and Basic Landscape Theory Course for Landscape Workers of the Construction Industry Council since 2005 and 2008 respectively. Over 3,200 students from the industry have joined these two courses. He has been the programme director of the Advanced Diploma on Tree Conservation and Management programme of the HKU SPACE since 2013. He has also provided different kinds of training to government bodies, including Tree Management Office (TMO) and Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD).
Mr. So had been appointed as the members of the Expert Panel on Tree Management under TMO and Old and Valuable Tree Expert Panel under LCSD. He is also a member of the Industry Training Advisory Committee of the Arboriculture and Horticulture Industry. In addition, Mr. So has an intensive network within the arboriculture and horticulture industry. He has good connections with employers, employees at different levels, government officials, programme trainers, professional bodies and scholars.
