Habitat: larvae associated with dense vegetation in ponds and marshes
General appearance: body relatively small sized, <10mm long; head wide with bulbous eyes protruding anterolaterally; legs with some markings; abdomen oval shaped with whitish midline and scattered dots on each side, conspicuous lateral spines on abdominal segments VIII - IX, but without dorsal spine
