Anaciaeschna jaspidea (Common evening hawker)
Habitat: larvae associated with vegetation in ponds
General appearance: body large sized, up to about 30mm long; head sub-pentagonal with occipital lobe rounded and large eyes; apex of labial palp truncate with inconspicuous end hook (cf. distinct in Gynacantha), long palpal setae on movable hook (cf. short setae in Gynacantha), tent-like ligula with deep median cleft; abdomen spindle-shaped, brown with a pale median line up to abdominal segment VIII; lateral spines on abdominal segments VI - IX, but without dorsal spine
