General appearance
Body size medium up to 5 mm long (excluding antennae & cerci)
Body yellowish brown with diffuse black markings

& two patches of brown setae shown clearly
Thorax
Two dark markings on femora sub-medially & sub-distally (but clearly shown in late stage); tibiae & tarsi pale yellow

Abdominal terga with postero-lateral projections
Gills I - VII: gill I single & slender; gills III - VII bi-lamellae with 3 long terminated filaments
Three caudal filaments subequal in length about body length

Distribution:
In Hong Kong, specimens are recorded in Bride's Pool, Wang Shan Keuk (Tai Po), Shing Mun, Chuen Lung, Kap Lung, Hok Tau, Tan Chuk Hang, Tai Tso Stream (Tai Mo Shan), Tai Po Kau Forest Stream, Tai Shui Hang (Ma On Shan), Ng Tung Chai, Lam Tsuen River, Tai Mong Tsai, Ho Chung, Pak Tam Chung (Sai Kung), Pui O and Sam A Shui Tsuen (Lantau Island).
Remarks: Male larvae are hardly distinguished from C. trigonia, but female larvae is lacking an apical cleft on sternum IX.
