Evidence
How do we know these hominids walked upright on two legs?
Many strands of evidence for the australopithecines in general suggest this:
the way the skull is balanced on the vertebral column;
the structure of the pelvis and femur;
the few australopithecine foot bones that have been found;
and (most directly) the trails of footprints they occasionally left.
