Postgraduate research in Molecular & Cell Biology

An important objective for the Research area for Molecular and Cell Biology (MCB) is to foster a healthy, creative environment for research postgraduate students (RPGs). In many ways, the creativity, hard work and dedication of our RPG students is the engine that drives our research output. Students are recruited through, word of mouth, personal references, and advertising at international conferences. Currently, the MCB has 82 RPGs from 12 countries.

The majority come from mainland China, although we seek enhanced diversity via expanded advertising efforts at international conferences, society websites, and geoscience job boards.

International partnerships of Molecular & Cell Biology

Members from Molecular and Cell Biology (MCB) established several consortia in collaboration with prestigious universities in Australia, Canada, China, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Japan, Sweden, Switzerland and UK, USA.

All our members have established research collaborations with overseas scientists, while some are members of global research groups. These international collaborations often result in significant research outcomes.

A member of the Research Division for MCB recently established a global consortium for exploring the role of diet in the prevention and development of human diseases, with members from China, Denmark, Finland, Switzerland, and the USA.

In collaboration with Harvard University, a member of MCB applied innovative bioinformatics to systematically identify cancer vulnerability and candidate driver genes and pathways as drug targets (Nat. Comm. 2018; Nat. Med. 2918).

School of Biological Sciences (SBS) plant scientists collaborate with scientists from Australia, Finland, Germany, Japan, Sweden, Switzerland and USA.
