HKU Paleontologists Discover Linkages between Oceanic and Continental Settings and Past East Asian Summer Monsoon Dynamics

Aug 27th 2018

Dr. Richard Ching Wa Cheung, who has just finished his PhD in Dr. Moriaki Yasuhara research group, published a paper based on his project conducted when he was an undergrad student in the Environmental Science Major of the Faculty.
The results revealed dynamic changes in East Asian Summer Monsoon (EASM) and recognized four pervasive EASM strengthened events for the last millennium. This discovery helps better understanding of recent, present, and future changes in Asian Monsoon that affect billions of people who live in Asia. This research result has just been published online in Geophysical Research Letters, a top journal in the field of geosciences.
