Description | Carapace tan to yellow brown, slightly raised. Head greyish on top and side, oblong in shape with round snout. A cream-coloured stripe extends from each eye to the back of the head. Throat whitish or cream-coloured. Plastron yellow with a large black blotch on each scute. Legs greyish. Feet with claws. |
Habitat | A freshwater terrapin. Inhabits quiet water. Usually Found in river, slow-flowing stream and freshwater marsh. |
Behaviour | Nocturnal. |
Diet | Omnivorous. |
Reproduction | Oviparous, reported to lay 2-6 eggs. |
Distribution | Introduced species because of pet trade and traditional medicine trade. Local specimens are released or escaped. Specimen was found on Cheng Chau, vicinity of Shing Mun and Tai Tam Reservoirs, Sai Kung and Shek Kong. Ranges throughout central and southern China, Taiwan, northern Vietnam and Ryukyus. |
