Assessment Methods & Weighting

1st Semester
A research report of 6,000 - 8,000 words excluding figures and reference list (50% weighting) should be submitted by 2 December 2024 Monday (on or before 17:00). A copy of the report in pdf format must be emailed to Ms. Flora Chan via ppchan@hku.hk.

Students have to complete a formal write-up of the project in the style of a leading journal in their particular research field which their supervisor will select. The research report will be assessed by both supervisor (60%) and second examiner (40%). Students are also required to present their project in a seminar on 6 December 2024, Friday (Tentative Date). 30% weighting of the final mark will be assessed by the supervisor (15%) or second examiner (15%) based on the oral presentation (15 minutes plus 5 minutes for questions and answers).  Students will also be evaluated through continuous assessment (20% weighting) based on one-on-one discussions between the student and their supervisor, and planning and drafting of the dissertation.

2nd Semester
