1st Semester

Assessment Methods & Weighting
A research report of 6,000-8,000 words excluding figures and reference list (50% weighting) must be submitted by 2 December 2024, Monday (on or before 17:00). Please email your report in pdf format to Ms. Flora Chan of the School of Biological Sciences via ppchan@hku.hk.

Students have to complete a formal write-up of the project in the style of a leading journal in their particular research field which their supervisor will select. The research report will be assessed by course coordinator and supervisor. Students are also required to present their project in a seminar (oral presentation 15 minutes plus 5 minutes for questions and answers). This will be 20% weighting of the final mark and be assessed by the course coordinator or second examiner. Students will also be evaluated through continuous assessment (30% weighting) based on one-on-one discussions between the student and their supervisor, and planning and drafting of the dissertation.

The seminar (oral presentation) date is tentatively scheduled on 4 December 2024.
