According to University Guidance on Decontamination, 1:20 diluted bleach can be added to the culture medium of culture flasks, bottles, plates or tubes for at least 10 minutes to disinfect the medium. The disinfected medium can be pour away to sink directly.
Culture flasks, bottles, plates or tubes are put into transparent autoclavable bag for autoclave sterilization. Then they can be disposed as normal waste in black garbage bag.
N.B. Bleach is not vey effective against Mycobacterium spp
Latex gloves are disposed as normal waste. If contaminated, please dispose as Laboratory Waste (Group 2) in red bag
All biohazard garbages will be collected at Thursday afternoon by licencing clinical waste collector and signed by clinical waste representative.
